Software Driver Installation
If you have a CD:
1> Insert the CD containing the Driver Software into the CD-ROM drive on your
computer.
2> Using Windows File Manager, navigate to the CD-ROM drive.
If you need to download the driver:
1> Click the following link or navigate your browser to the VeriFone Support Site at:
http://www.verifone.com/services/techsupport/files/PL-2303_Driver_Installer.exe
2> Save in the resulting pop-pup window(s) until receipt is verified.
Software Driver Execution
To execute and run the software driver Installation Program:
1> Double-click the 'PL-2303 Driver Installer.exe' file. The subsequent installation
process is automatic and requires no user intervention.
2> Installation is complete when all pop-up windows close.
Cable Installation and Configuration
To install and configure the cable:
1> After the Software Driver is installed, connect the DB-9 end of the USB-to-Serial
cable to the DB-9 connector on the VeriFone device.
2> Plug the USB end of the USB-to-Serial cable into an available USB port on the
computer.
3> In a few moments, the USB cable should be detected. Windows should then indicate
that the device is ready to use.
4> To set the assigned Serial Port (COMx) number and operating parameters, start the
Windows Device Manager (usually accessed via the System Icon in Control
Panel).
5> Click on the 'Ports (COM & LPT)' entry to expand the list of ports.
6> Right-Click on the 'Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port' entry, then click 'Properties' in
the drop-down menu.
7> Click on the 'Port Settings' tab. The default Baud Rate and Protocol settings can be
changed here.
8> Click on the 'Advanced' button. The COM Port number can be set here.
9> VeriFone recommends leaving the FIFO settings at their installed default
