Problem

When processing a sale via GSAR the response is INVALID FUNCTION.

Solution

This can indicate that your account is set up for auth only. Contact GSAR or the MSP (merchant services provider) who setup the merchant account; request that the account be configured for auth and capture.

Additional Comments

An auth only account is setup to run authorizations only. A Sale performs an authorization and a capture for settlement (writes it to the settlement file) all in one step, thereby making a Sale transaction against an auth only account invalid.
